Met als doel om het centrum van Heist meer aansluiting te laten vinden bij de toeristische zone langs de dijk, wordt de Elizabetlaan (N34) omgevormd van 2x2 naar 2x1 rijstrook. Daardoor komt er veel ruimte vrij voor fiets- en voetpaden, terrassen en groen. De aanleg van een nieuwe esplanade, een landschapstuin, bomenclusters en nieuwe pleinruimtes moeten de Elizabetlaan een nieuwe, kwaliteitsvolle uitstraling geven.
